Can you swim or shower with a watch? Check before buying
Find the exact watch's documented water-resistance rating and activity guidance before deciding whether it is suitable for water exposure.
Does water resistant mean suitable for swimming?
Not automatically. Choose activities according to the exact watch's documented rating and manufacturer instructions. A general water-resistant label or dive-style appearance does not establish that a watch is suitable for swimming, showering, or diving. If the listing does not document water resistance, treat suitability for water exposure as unconfirmed.
How should you use a bar or meter rating?
Start with the rating for the exact model and look up its permitted activities in the applicable instructions. Do not read a meter number as permission to wear the watch at that depth. Seiko's guidance separates everyday water exposure, swimming, and diving rather than treating all water-resistant watches alike.
That guidance applies to the watches it describes. It does not establish a rating for another watch or verify an item sold here. Ask for documentation that matches your selected product and option.
What should you check beyond the rating?
Read the instructions for the crown, pushers, and band as well as the case. Confirm whether controls can be operated when wet and which care steps apply after water exposure. Suitability of the case does not establish suitability of every strap material.
For a watch whose condition or service history is uncertain, ask whether its water resistance has been checked and what use is supported by that evidence. Do not substitute a seller photograph or a generic rating chart for item-specific information.
What should you ask support?
Send the product URL, selected option, and intended activity. For example: 'I plan to wear this watch while swimming. Please confirm the documented rating, the applicable activity instructions, and any restrictions for the crown, pushers, and strap.' Wait for confirmation before relying on water resistance.
