How to compare regular and relaxed clothing fits
Compare garment dimensions, layering room, fabric information, and care labels when choosing a regular or relaxed fit.
Treat fit names as a starting point
Regular, relaxed, and oversized describe an intended silhouette, but the label alone does not tell you a garment's dimensions. Compare the individual size chart with a similar piece you own. Two tops labeled relaxed can differ in width, length, and sleeve shape.
Compare width and length together
A wider top is not necessarily longer. Check chest width and garment length together, then shoulder and sleeve measurements where listed. For trousers, compare waist, rise, inseam, and leg measurements when provided. Ask which measurement points were used if the chart is unclear.
- Choose a reference garment with the silhouette you want.
- Record its dimensions and compare the same measurement points in the listing.
- Consider what you will wear underneath. Ask for missing dimensions before selecting the option.
Check fabric and care information separately
Use the product description and label photos to check the stated composition and care instructions. A product photograph does not establish fiber percentages, stretch, or shrinkage. If those details matter to your choice, ask for the specific item's label or supporting information.
Do not assume every garment can be machine washed or that choosing a larger size solves an unknown fit. Review the return policy before relying on an exchange. Share the product URL and your reference measurements with support so the question relates to the exact item.
